You probably missed it when you went into the gamez folder. When searching for the file stop here at “#SharedObjects/funky\_stream\_of\_letters/” and you can see something like Jacksmith\_1.sol. While I haven’t tried testing it out for Wingeria, Jacksmith isn’t located where you were searching for the file. However I think I might have found your problem. Hey there Darthgorbag, it’s never fun to lose your game progress so I’m really sorry about what happened.
Papa Louie games are always LOOOOOOOONG-term games, so keeping backups is more essential than it is for most games, but if they can’t be done like normal & I’ve lost a year or 2 of work because of that, then I refused to ever play another game in this immense series (unless needed for a Kong quest or BotD). I’d REALLY REALLY HATE to completely lose my progress, because I have invested SOOOOOOOOO MUUUUUUUUCHHHHH time into these games. Is it possible to backup & restore saves from these particular games the **regular way**, by saving copies of the files & folders on your computer? Or are these games different from all other browser flash games in that they can only be backed up by using the in-game option? If it is possible to do it the traditional way, then what am I doing wrong? What file should I be looking for in my backup folders, & what folder does it go into? Apparently that program only recognizes files that are of “Papa backup file” format, which means files that you make from within the game (there’s a tiny option under in each used save-slot called “Save a backup”, & I also never knew about this until now). I tried it (it opened up an “Open” windows-explorer window… you know the thing, where you find & select a file to open with a program), but when I navigated through the folders & into that “jacksmith.swf” folder, there was nothing to select.
I notice that these Papa Louie games have a big handy button below the save slots that leads to info on how to restore a save from backup, directly in the game. But when I open Jacksmith again, there are still no saves there for me to load. Still, to try to restore my save, I copied that file from the backup folder & replaced the one in the real folder with it. I checked my backup folders & that’s the same only file in there, so apparently the file itself didn’t get erased when I was clearing history. I went to the folder where the Jacksmith save is stored (#SharedObjects/37YETGG3//gamez/(#)/(#)/live/jacksmith.swf), and there is only one file in it called “playtomic.sol”. But for these games today, it just isn’t working. I have backups of all the folders that have all the files for my browser-flash-savegames, and I’ve been able to restore games from these backups after they’ve been erased in the past. I’m assuming it happened because yesterday I manually deleted the last week of browser-history from Firefox (I learned YEARS ago to never ever clear my cookies or cache or else I’ll lose my browser savegames, but I never thought it would happen from selectively deleting browsing history!) They’re both from the Papa Louie Arcade! game franchise, but I also have saves from 2 other Papa Louie games that weren’t erased it was just these 2. Today I discovered my saves from 2 specific games have been erased: Jacksmith (()), and Pappa’s Wingeria (()).
